The Power of Self-Compassion
I believe self-compassion to be our most powerful tool in becoming a happier and more fulfilled person. Unfortunately, it's a skill that we often don't really get taught and on the contrary actually even lose in adulthood. Our upbringing within an achievement-driven society, years of criticism, or unprocessed trauma often deprive of us the skill to be kind to ourselves.
We grow up believing that we don't deserve to be loved (by others and by ourselves), that nothing we do is good enough, and that only by self-criticism and continuous deprivation do we push ourselves to achieve. This couldn't be further away from the truth.

Just as a flower doesn't bloom in dark and cold conditions, it's also hard for us to bloom when we aren't surrounded by love and kindness. It all starts with ourselves.

The good news is that self-compassion can be re-learned. All we need to do is to learn to listen to ourselves and our inner processes and exercise positive self-talk.

Practicing self-compassion is a fundamental part of all of my life & health coaching practices and builds the basis for positive results.
